Isles of the Left

The Unsaid

A poem by Adrian DeBattista

A word wants to fall
with no gravity
Heard but never seen
Through a sound-proof one-way mirror
Ordering chaos
in faulty chemistry
Defies definition in aural dreams
Deaf ears cause tremors
in suspended blind belief

As it speaks in lungs
Irrigates sunken air
waves through cryptic leaks
That freezes fluency
loose
Senses in cellophane
consumed
by injected inhibitions
echoing a lexical mausoleum
conjuring silence
of thought
A product now defunct
